Velda (Squyres) Dobbs, age 84, of West, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 29, 2023 at her
daughter’s residence.
Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at Clark Cemetery near
Weatherford. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral
Home Chapel in West.
Velda was born February 21, 1938 in Gatesville, the daughter of Perry and Ruth (Snow) Squyres.
She attended school in Jonesboro. In May of 1973 she was united in marriage to Billy Dobbs in
Hugo, Oklahoma. Billy preceded her in death on January 10, 2001. She was a member of the
Gospel Outreach Church in Azle. Velda enjoyed dancing, playing the piano and guitar, listening to
all music, and singing Karaoke. She loved spending time with her family and was known as a
people person who loved to visit.
Velda is also preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Brenda Clements and Shelly
Martin; sisters, Ruth Green, Nadene Dunn, Frieda Simmons, and Melba Rowe; and a brother,
Lyndall Squyres.
Survivors include her children, Steven Dobbs and wife Cindy of Black Diamond, WA, and
Deborah Kirkpatrick and her husband Charles Sr. of West; three brothers, Melton Squyres, Gayle
Squyres and wife Patsy, and Dayle Squyres and wife Gayla; a sister, Sue Durham; her
grandchildren, John and Taylor Dobbs, Hayley Dobbs, Morgan Dobbs, Melissa and Todd Hocker,
Kyle and Yvette Wilson, Chris and Kiley Clements, Elizabeth Martin, and Brice Martin; 8 great
grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
